From Our Pasture to Your Plate

FARMING PRACTICES

Our cattle are raised on our family farm in Southern Iowa, where pasture comes first, and animal care is never an afterthought. From day one, our focus is on humane treatment, healthy land, and doing what’s best for the cattle — not cutting corners to go faster or cheaper.

Our cattle spend their lives on pasture, where they’re cared for daily and raised without hormones or antibiotics — ever. Toward the end of the process, we use a short, carefully managed finishing phase guided by a professional nutritionist. This helps ensure animal health, consistency, and the rich flavor you expect from truly good beef.

We don’t use feedlots. We don’t rush growth. And we don’t hide behind buzzwords. We believe transparency matters, because this isn’t just our business — it’s our family’s livelihood and our responsibility.

We’re raising beef the way we want to feed our own kids, serve our neighbors, and share with customers who care where their food comes from. When you support Herd 77, you’re supporting a real family farm committed to doing things the right way, even when it’s harder.

QUALITY AND CARE THROUGH EVERY STEP

PROCESSING PRACTICES

At Herd 77, we believe quality beef starts with respect—for the animal and for the families who will enjoy it. Our cattle are humanely harvested and processed in a USDA-inspected and certified Midwest facility. Each cut is carefully dry-aged for 21 days to enhance tenderness and flavor, then flash frozen at peak freshness to preserve its natural integrity, texture, and taste. Every package is sealed in durable 5mm vacuum-sealed plastic wrap designed to prevent punctures, protect against freezer burn, and ensure your beef arrives exactly as it was meant to be enjoyed.

Freshness Delivered

We ship your beef frozen and carefully packaged to protect quality from our farm to your doorstep. Orders are packed frozen with dry ice, insulated in a styrofoam cooler & cardboard box, and shipped UPS express to ensure they arrive cold, safe, and ready for your freezer. We ship only on Monday and Tuesday of each week to avoid delays. If there’s ever an issue with your order, we’ll make it right — because your trust matters as much as the beef we raise.

We work hard to keep shipping costs as low as possible, but shipping frozen products is expensive — especially for a small family farm. A portion of those expenses are reflected in our shipping fees, and we hope that as our farm grows, we’ll be able to pass on savings and lower those costs for our customers.
